A simple way to size a power station for PH brownouts — Wh, watts, LiFePO4, solar input, and what not to believe on Shopee.

Choosing a power station is easier if you ignore the banner that says “2400W peak!!!” and answer three questions: what will you plug in, for how long, and how will you recharge when Meralco comes back.
Use this with the shopping lists: best power station, home backup, solar generator.
1. List watts, not vibes
Write down running watts (and surge if it is a fridge).

Add them. That sum must stay under the inverter’s rated watts, not the “peak” number.
2. Turn watts into watt-hours
Wh needed ≈ watts × hours × 1.2 (inefficiency + “I opened the fridge”).
Example: 80W (internet + lights + laptop) × 8 hours × 1.2 = about 770Wh. A 512Wh River-class unit is short. A 768–1024Wh unit fits.
Fridge all night is a 1–2kWh problem.
3. Chemistry
LiFePO4 (LFP) for anything you will cycle during brownouts. It lasts in heat better than old NMC picnic batteries. If the listing does not say LFP or LiFePO4, assume worse.
4. Recharge speed
PH outages sometimes end at 3 a.m. for two hours. A station that needs 8 hours of wall charging will not refill. EcoFlow-style fast AC input is worth money here.
Solar is extra. It is not your weekday plan unless you have sun and a panel that matches VOC / solar input on the spec sheet.
5. Outlets and sine wave
- Pure sine wave for fridge, PC, and laptop bricks
- Enough Universal / Type A sockets for PH plugs
- USB-C PD for phones so you are not wasting inverter capacity on bricks
6. UPS vs station
Desktops want a UPS for instant switchover. Stations are for hours. Many people in the PH should own both: 650VA for the modem/PC, station for the apartment.
Decision tree
- Only Wi-Fi and phones → 256–512Wh
- Work from home during evening outages → 512–1000Wh
- Fridge + lights → 1kWh+ home station
- Multi-day typhoon → station + solar
- Gaming PC through flickers → UPS, not a tiny station
FAQ
Is watt-hour the same as mAh?
No. mAh without voltage is a trick. Wh = (mAh × V) / 1000. A 20,000mAh power bank at 3.7V is about 74Wh, not a power station.
Can I take it on a plane?
Most airline rules cap around 100Wh, sometimes 160Wh with approval. Home stations stay home.
Do I need the app?
Nice to have. Not a reason to skip a cheaper Bluetti if the Wh and inverter are right.
