A gaming PC in the Philippines does not “double the electric bill” by itself. Aircon does that. The PC still adds a line item you can estimate with watts × hours × your Meralco (or electric co-op) rate.

This is math, not a scare post.

The formula

kWh = (watts ÷ 1000) × hours
Pesos = kWh × ₱ per kWh

Residential rates move, but ₱12–₱16 per kWh is a sane planning band for many Luzon bills in 2026. Use the rate printed on your bill.

Typical watts

SetupIdle / YouTubeGaming
Office PC40–70W
Ryzen 5 + RTX 406080–120W250–380W
Ryzen 7 + 4070-class100–150W350–500W
24–27" monitor20–40W20–40W
Mesh router10–20W10–20W

A GPU under ₱20k plus a 65W CPU is usually a 300–400W gaming load including the monitor.

Example: 4 hours of games a night

Assume 350W at the wall while playing, ₱14/kWh, 4 hours, 30 days.

  • 0.35 kW × 4 h = 1.4 kWh/night
  • 1.4 × 30 = 42 kWh/month
  • 42 × ₱14 = about ₱588/month

That is a meal out, not a second rent. Add another ₱80–₱150 if you leave the PC on for downloads all day at 100W.

What actually dominates the bill

  1. Aircon — a 1.0HP inverter easily burns more than the PC
  2. Old fridge
  3. Water heater / iron / induction
  4. Then the PC

If you game in a closed room with aircon for four hours, the aircon is the story. The GPU is a footnote.

UPS and brownouts

A UPS does not lower kWh. It wastes a little extra as heat. It still pays for itself the first time a flicker does not kill a render or a Windows update. See best UPS.

If you try to game through a long outage on a power station, 350W will empty a 512Wh station in about an hour after inverter loss. Plan games for when the grid is up.

FAQ

Is a laptop cheaper to run?

Usually yes — 80–150W while gaming. You pay more at purchase and repair.

Does RGB matter?

No. Those LEDs are a few watts. People love blaming them.

80+ Gold vs Bronze?

Gold saves a bit as heat in the PSU. You will not see it vs aircon. Buy Gold for reliability and less heat in a small desk cabinet, not for the bill.

Bottom line

Budget ₱400–₱800/month for a 4060-class rig that you actually play, at typical PH rates. Buy the gaming PC you want. Fight the aircon if the bill hurts.
